GPA Calculator
The GPA Calculator computes your semester or cumulative Grade Point Average, supporting the standard 4.0 scale and weighted courses, with course-by-course entry.
How GPA is calculated
GPA is a weighted average of your grades. Each course's grade is converted to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on), multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by the total credits. A heavier course therefore moves your GPA more than a lighter one - which the calculator handles automatically as you enter each course.
Semester and cumulative
Compute a single semester's GPA, or combine semesters for your cumulative GPA. It supports weighted scales (where honours or AP courses count for more) so it works for both high school and university. Use it to track progress, set target grades, and see what you need this term to reach a goal GPA.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated?
Each grade is converted to points, multiplied by the course's credit hours, summed, and divided by the total credit hours.
What is the difference between semester and cumulative GPA?
Semester GPA covers one term; cumulative GPA averages all your terms together across your studies.
Does it support weighted (honours/AP) grades?
Yes. It supports weighted scales where advanced courses earn extra grade points.
Why do credit hours matter?
Courses with more credit hours carry more weight in your GPA, so a high grade in a heavy course helps more.
